A little input.
And we’ll take it from here.
How to use it
Enter one-way distance, mileage, fuel price, travel days and daily parking. Add your return public-transport fare to compare.
A quick example
A 10 km one-way trip, 40 km/l mileage, ₹100/l fuel and 20 days costs ₹1,000 in fuel per month.
Good to know
All prices and fares are supplied by you. Driving estimates include fuel and parking only, excluding maintenance, insurance, depreciation and tolls.
Is it free?
Yes. No account, payment or file upload to a server is needed.
Making a better commute decision
Count the hidden costs
Fuel is only part of the cost of driving. Servicing, insurance, tyres and wear can add a lot per kilometre, and parking near Bengaluru tech parks and malls can cost more than the fuel. Add a rough figure for these before you compare with the bus or metro.
Compare time as well as money
A cheaper option that adds an hour a day may not be worth it. Note door-to-door time for each option, including walking to the stop and waiting, and decide what an hour of your time is worth to you.
Re-check after a move or a new job
Commute costs change a lot with a new flat or office. Run the numbers for each place you are considering. A slightly higher rent near a metro station can work out cheaper overall.
A little more clarity
Does this tool use live Bengaluru fares or petrol prices?
No. Enter the current fuel price and your actual return public-transport fare. This makes it useful for metro, bus or a combination of services without implying that BLRGO has verified live prices. The linked Bengaluru guides provide additional journey-planning information.
Which commuting costs are included?
Monthly fuel cost = one-way distance × 2 × travel days ÷ mileage × fuel price. Parking per day is multiplied by travel days and added. Compare that with your return fare multiplied by travel days. Add other costs separately when deciding whether to drive.
