How to find a BMTC bus route in Bengaluru
BMTC (Bangalore Metropolitan Transport Corporation) runs thousands of buses across the city, and its network reaches many places the metro doesn't. Choosing a route is the hard part, because the same trip can often be made on several route numbers with different stops and timings. Type your boarding stop or area and your destination above. The finder suggests routes on the main corridors, shows where to change buses if you need to, and estimates the fare and travel time.
Tips for using the results
Search the stop, not just the area. Big areas like Whitefield, Electronic City or Jayanagar have many stops far apart. A landmark or stop name gives a much better route.
Check the destination board. Buses with the same number sometimes run shortened trips. Read the destination shown on the front of the bus, not just the number.
Allow for traffic. Travel times assume normal traffic. At peak hours on Outer Ring Road, Hosur Road or Old Airport Road, a bus can take twice as long.
Use the metro for part of the trip. For long cross-city trips, a short bus ride to the nearest metro station is often faster than one long bus ride. Plan the metro part on blrmetro.com.
Main bus hubs
Most long routes start or end at a few big terminals: Kempegowda Bus Station at Majestic, Shivajinagar, K. R. Market and Shanthinagar. If you can't find a direct route, changing at one of these hubs usually works, because buses leave from them in almost every direction.
Fares, passes and free travel
BMTC charges by stage (distance), and AC Vajra and airport Vayu Vajra buses cost more than ordinary buses. Daily and monthly passes are good value if you make several trips a day. Under the Karnataka government's Shakti scheme, women who live in Karnataka can travel free on ordinary (non-AC) BMTC buses. Fares and pass prices change from time to time, so the fare shown here is an estimate.
For live bus locations and arrival times, use BMTC's official app or the display boards at major stops. The routes on this page are for planning before you leave.
Accuracy note
This is an independent planning tool and isn't run by BMTC or BMRCL. Routes, stops, fares and timings change. Check official BMTC sources or the bus stop display before you travel. For metro information, check bmrc.co.in.
