Chapters
- Choose a realistic role lane. A role lane is a small family of jobs that value similar evidence. Focus improves faster when you compare daily tasks, entry barriers, skill overlap, location, pay range, and genuine interest.
- Build the smallest useful skill gap. The relevant skill gap is not every tool mentioned online. It is the smallest set of capabilities needed to complete a realistic work sample and discuss it confidently.
- Write a resume that earns a closer look. The resume's top third should quickly answer target role, relevant evidence, tools, and scope. The rest should make claims easy to verify and easy to discuss.
- Create portfolio proof. A portfolio project should resemble the work of the target role. It needs a problem, constraints, process, deliverable, result or learning, and a short explanation of decisions.
- Network without begging. Useful networking starts with relevance, respect, and a small request. Ask for perspective or feedback, make it easy to respond, and build relationships before urgent need.
- Apply with a quality pipeline. A job search is a pipeline: target, apply, follow up, interview, and learn. Tracking reveals whether the problem is role fit, resume conversion, interview performance, or simply insufficient volume.
- Interview with structured evidence. Interview answers become clearer when they connect situation, responsibility, action, result, and learning. Technical claims should be demonstrated; behavioural claims should be backed by a specific event.
- Negotiate, decide, and onboard. An offer decision includes role scope, manager, learning, location, stability, total compensation, benefits, notice terms, and personal constraints. Negotiation should use evidence and clarity rather than bluffing.
Please note: This guide cannot guarantee interviews, offers, salary, or employment. Hiring practices vary. Keep every resume claim truthful, protect employer information, and verify application requirements directly with the organisation.

A good career switch is not a leap into confusion. It is a sequence of proof: role choice, skill gap, project artifact, resume story, and outreach.
